THANKSGIVING PROCLAMATION OF 1789
By the President of the United States of America, a Proclamation.
Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor-- and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.
Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be-- That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks--for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation--for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war--for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed--for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted--for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.
and also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions-- to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually--to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed--to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord--To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and us--and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.
Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.
Go: Washington
Washington issued a proclamation on October 3, 1789, designating Thursday, November 26 as a national day of thanks. In his proclamation, Washington declared that the necessity for such a day sprung from the Almighty’s care of Americans prior to the Revolution, assistance to them in achieving independence, and help in establishing the constitutional government.

Dr. William Perry is a prolific writer of outstanding books. His titles for Newburgh Press thus far are Christians Helping Christians, Christian Counseling for the 21st Century and Theology for the 21st Century. Each book is a must for every reader of solid Christian material.
I am happy to endorse Dr. Perry’s latest treasure, “A Journey Through The Gospels.” Every student and preacher/teacher of the Bible needs this book for the desk or the bedside table. You will enjoy reading insights and valuable lessons that many casual readers of the Bible will miss.
While this book is not lengthy you will find a delightful study of each gospel that will make you appreciate the wonderful gospel stories and love Jesus even more.To God be the glory!Dr. Glenn Mollette, PresidentNewburgh Theological SeminaryNewburgh, Indiana

Hello Pastor Bill and Kathy,
ReplyDeleteValerie and I heard about Eric’s hospitalization. We will continue to pray for him, and you two as well.
Monday is our 36th Anniversary. We have plans to have a nice lunch.
We are still working to get better. Valerie’s ear is looking good. She will start doubling up her prescription (as prescribed) tomorrow, Monday. We have high hopes this will make her better. Please pray for that.
We noted from the message that...
The reality of judgment is something that should be taken seriously by everyone because everyone will face judgment one way or the other.
George and Valerie
Another good, spot on message- love your teaching. We had a really nice Thanksgiving- Praying you and your family.

Hi Dad,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the article, it is a fairly dense walk through the Castleman disease, but good one. It’ll take a few passes to really grasp a small part of what they’re sayng :)
I did find that paragraph about how difficult Castleman's Disease is to diagnose and treat very gripping. I had to re-read it, because it is a formidable disease. Horrible. And that paragraph kind of sums it up but hits you in the face at the same time. I couldn’t imagine having to live with it. It’s so unpredictable, and also doubles as a chameleon disease, it mimics other diseases and that must throw even the best doctors for a loop, hence the ‘nightmare’ in diagnosing it in the first place. I am seeing why diagnosing Eric was difficult, but I feel Mayo was the place with the right people that took the time to REALLY investigate and diagnose him. Very thankful for that.
Thank you so much. We’ve been praying and worrying . Poor boy has been thru so much.
ReplyDeleteI know how it hurts and your hands are tied. So painful for all. The biggest power we have is prayers. He’s so special. Hang in there🙏🙏
Will continue the prayers for sure, for all of you.
How is your Son?
ReplyDeleteBeen praying !
Glenn
I’m so glad the reawakening seems to be successful.
ReplyDeletePrayers for safe travels to the hospital tomorrow and a nice visit. I hope the infusion goes well.
Love you
Jenny
This sounds encouraging! All sounds like forward progress, so that is good news. Will continue to pray for continued progress, hopefully the nurse is able to connect tonight.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your son Eric's situation. I never heard of Casselman's disease, but I did a little reading and understand that it is serious, and believing we serve a Mighty God, I have faith in my hope for good results. Another good message Pastor. We are praying,
ReplyDeleteAnother good message, as I enjoy my boat, what a change from city life. I never plan on going back. Love the message of truth.
ReplyDeleteA ray of sunshine in a dark world- Amen!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you were able to be in all his meetings today and I do think it’s a good plan for you both to be there tomorrow when they try to bring him out again.
ReplyDeleteWe will be praying hard for him tonight.
That’s nice he got a Christmas card from Tori. I hope he’s able to see it soon along with the picture. I wish his children could be there as well. I’m sure he feels very distant from them.
I’m glad the infusion went well.
I pray everything goes well tomorrow. Give me a call and let me know if you need anything.
We love you all.
Love
Jenny and Ronnie
