Is God Calling You to be a Pastor?

The right kind of education is essential to the man who has answered God's call. No army dare send a soldier into battle without proper training. The results would be devastating, not only for the warrior, but for the war.

November 27

THANKSGIVING PROCLAMATION OF 1789

By the President of the United States of America, a Proclamation.

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor-- and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be-- That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks--for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation--for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war--for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed--for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted--for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

and also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions-- to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually--to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed--to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord--To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and us--and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

Go: Washington

Washington issued a proclamation on October 3, 1789, designating Thursday, November 26 as a national day of thanks. In his proclamation, Washington declared that the necessity for such a day sprung from the Almighty’s care of Americans prior to the Revolution, assistance to them in achieving independence, and help in establishing the constitutional government.

PRAYER REQUESTS AND PRAISE REPORTS

NEW Praise and Prayer for George and Valerie: They are starting to get better.  Praise the Lord.

NEW  Praise and Prayer for Eric:    Eric seems to be on the mend, but has a long way to go, so we are praising the Lord.  He is still in ICU in critical condition at the Mayo Hospital in Phoenix.  Thank you for your continued prayer.

Praise for:  Dal and Carrie who had a nice visit with family during the Thanksgiving holidays.

Pray for: Our Missionaries, as they labor for the Lord.

Pray that: It would be understood, that alone, as an individual, you are not the Church, not Until We, as Believers Gather Together in His Name, as a Congregation, do we become a Church; the Bride of Christ! COME TO CHURCH! Hebrews 10: 24-25.

PRAY: THAT FEAR WOULD SUBSIDE IN EQUAL PROPORTION TO OUR TRUST IN GOD. TO FEAR NOT!  FEAR ONLY THE LORD GOD; THERE IS NOTHING ELSE TO FEAR. TRUSTING IN HIM!

PRAY FOR: Todd (health and personal matters). Praise the Lord for Todd getting connected with Mayo!

PRAY FOR: The many that are unsaved, in and around Valley Farms. Rebuke, and hold back the ungodly cult of Mormonism. These people who have turned their backs on the true Jesus, and there-fore are by no means saved, but are on their way to an Eternity in HELL!

PRAY FOR: Salvation for OUR PRESIDENT and VICE PRESIDENT.

PRAY THAT: All who claim to know Jesus as Lord and Savior would start to live as if He is Real in their lives and will be willing to pay the one debt, we all owe for our Salvation; that is the debt of LOVE to the Lord Jesus (Romans 13:8)!

PRAY FOR ALL CONCERNED: As Pastor Bill teaches God's Word (1 Timothy 2:2). As he teaches the Truth of God's word and rebukes all false gospel. Pray that many would respond to the Truth of God's Word in love and truth.

FILL IN THE BLANKS!

(Check answers below.)  NOTE! Filling in the blanks each week, could give a serious student of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Bible, an education equal to a Theological degree within two years.

The Gospel of John: Part 14

“The Claims of Jesus”                          John 5:19-29

1.   The Lord Jesus says (John 5:19) that He is truly ____, and that because He is God, He in fact can only do what God does.  Because He is God.

2.   There is a perfect ___________________ between the Father and the Son.

3.   There is a personal and intimate relationship between the ___________ and the ____________.  (John 5:20)

4.   Jesus is the _____ giver.  (John 5:21)

5.   Jesus will _____________ all people one day.

6.   All _______________ will appear before Jesus at the Judgment Seat we call the Bema Seat of Christ. (2 Cor 5:10)

7.   The ____________ (the ________) will come before Jesus at the Great White Throne Judgment years later. (Rev 20:11)

8.   Paul wrote to the Ephesian believers that they had been _____ in trespasses and sins.  This is the spiritual condition of every living man or woman before they are saved, before they come to a personal faith in Jesus and are saved.

9.   The ____________ could happen at any moment.

10.  The _____ will receive their just and righteous punishment.

11.  The Good News is that not one has to be concerned about being lost because the ________ has provided a way to escape this dark eternal end in Hell.  What we have to do is accept what He provided at the Cross—Salvation’s Plan. (John 3:16)

FYI

SALVATION: Not only to Eternity in Heaven, but from Eternity in Hell! You MUST, first of all: Humble yourself and Admit You Are a Sinner in Need of a Savior:

* Mark 1:15 "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel."

•James 2:10 “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.”

•Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

•Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Accept God’s Love through the/Sacrifice in His Son Jesus
•Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Turn to God in Repentance
•Acts 20:21 “solemnly testifying to both Jews and Greeks of repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Trust the Fullness Jesus Christ!
•Romans 10:9 “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;"

•Romans 10:13 “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

•Romans 10:14 “How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?"

•Romans 10:17 “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ."

•Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek Me (God) and find Me when you search for Me with all your (being) heart.”

It may not be easy to give up your old sinful ways, and turn in faith to Jesus Christ; but it is the ONLY way to SALVATION, AND IT IS WORTH IT!

CALL UPON (THE FULLNESS OF) THE NAME OF JESUS AND YOU WILL BE SAVED!

Dr. William Perry is a prolific writer of outstanding books. His titles for Newburgh Press thus far are Christians Helping Christians, Christian Counseling for the 21st Century and Theology for the 21st Century. Each book is a must for every reader of solid Christian material.
I am happy to endorse Dr. Perry’s latest treasure, “A Journey Through The Gospels.” Every student and preacher/teacher of the Bible needs this book for the desk or the bedside table. You will enjoy reading insights  and valuable lessons that many casual readers of the Bible will miss.

While this book is not lengthy you will find a delightful study of each gospel that will make you appreciate the wonderful gospel stories and love Jesus even more.

  1. Hello Pastor Bill and Kathy,

Valerie and I heard about Eric’s hospitalization. We will continue to pray for him, and you two as well.

Monday is our 36th Anniversary. We have plans to have a nice lunch.

We are still working to get better. Valerie’s ear is looking good. She will start doubling up her prescription (as prescribed) tomorrow, Monday. We have high hopes this will make her better. Please pray for that.

We noted from the message that...
The reality of judgment is something that should be taken seriously by everyone because everyone will face judgment one way or the other.

    George and Valerie

  8. Hi Dad,

Thanks for the article, it is a fairly dense walk through the Castleman disease, but good one. It’ll take a few passes to really grasp a small part of what they’re sayng :)

I did find that paragraph about how difficult Castleman's Disease is to diagnose and treat very gripping. I had to re-read it, because it is a formidable disease. Horrible. And that paragraph kind of sums it up but hits you in the face at the same time. I couldn’t imagine having to live with it. It’s so unpredictable, and also doubles as a chameleon disease, it mimics other diseases and that must throw even the best doctors for a loop, hence the ‘nightmare’ in diagnosing it in the first place. I am seeing why diagnosing Eric was difficult, but I feel Mayo was the place with the right people that took the time to REALLY investigate and diagnose him. Very thankful for that.

  9. Thank you so much. We’ve been praying and worrying . Poor boy has been thru so much.

I know how it hurts and your hands are tied. So painful for all. The biggest power we have is prayers. He’s so special. Hang in there🙏🙏

Will continue the prayers for sure, for all of you.

Thanks for sharing your son Eric's situation. I never heard of Casselman's disease, but I did a little reading and understand that it is serious, and believing we serve a Mighty God, I have faith in my hope for good results. Another good message Pastor. We are praying,

  16. I am glad you were able to be in all his meetings today and I do think it’s a good plan for you both to be there tomorrow when they try to bring him out again.
We will be praying hard for him tonight.

That’s nice he got a Christmas card from Tori. I hope he’s able to see it soon along with the picture. I wish his children could be there as well. I’m sure he feels very distant from them.

I’m glad the infusion went well.

I pray everything goes well tomorrow. Give me a call and let me know if you need anything.

    We love you all.
