Am I Getting Enough Likes?

This past week I was blessed to attend a Pastor’s Conference in Ahwatukee, AZ. During one of the worship sessions, the Pastor talked of how many pastors receiving feedback from their congregation, and being “liked”, can be a motivator to their message direction and for the sermons they may preach. There is no doubt, being “liked” is a significant motivation for everyone. We all want to be liked, to be accepted, it’s part of human nature. It validates who we are; it motivates our actions and place in our social setting. This motivation of being liked for something we said, for our works, becomes a problem when we allow it to become the power that motivates us in our Christian faith, in our actions (works), and in our daily walk with the Lord. The use of social media has grown and nurtured that desire to seek approval and be “liked” by nearly every one today. How many of us post something on social media, and then over the course of minutes, hours and even days, check what we have posted to see how many “likes” we have received? We have become so motivated and focused on the number of “likes” and “shares” we receive over our posted material. More likes excellent, fewer likes…. what is wrong, what did we not say or do? This is when we begin the slippery slope to have problems in what motivates our works and can begin towards becoming idolatry, or man pleasures. We may begin to seek our personal validation of our good works from the likes we've received on our social media. The number of “likes” now becomes our reward for our good works.

"Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. Otherwise, you have no reward with your Father in heaven. (Mat 6:1 CSB)

When we pray or do good works; these acts should be done for His glory and must not be done as a spectacle for others to witness, seeking personal glory and validation by the number of “likes” or for others to say, “what good things (works) you have done.”  The response and approval of others must not be what motivates our prayer, our words, or our good works. We must never be enslaved by how many “likes” or level of acceptance we gain, but instead, our words and works must be done for the love and glory of God in our daily walk with Him.

"so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” (Mat 6:4 CSB)

Let our good works be done for the glory of God, for our rewards are with our Father in heaven, and not here on earth as a spectacle for others measured in the form of “likes.”

IS THERE A BIBLICAL PRESCRIPTION TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN? YES! ONE AND ONLY ONE. IT'S FOUND IN 2nd CHRONICLES 7:14; "IF MY PEOPLE WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME WILL HUMBLE THEMSELVES, AND PRAY AND SEEK MY FACE, AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, THEN I WILL HEAR FROM HEAVEN, AND WILL FORGIVE THEIR SINS AND HEAL THEIR LAND." 

THE ANSWER IS: TURN BACK TO THE LORD GOD-TO FAITH-FAMILY! 

WHY REACH OUT AND MINISTER TO MEN?

• When a child is reached for Christ, 3.5% of the family will follow.

• When a mother is reached for Christ, 17% of her family will follow.

• When a father is reached for Christ, 93% of his family will follow.  (Per the Heritage Foundation)

• THE LORD S CALLING FAITHFUL MEN TO LEAD THEIR FAMILIES!

PRAY FOR: Ric Winslow who had a heart attack this week, and is home recovering.

PRAISE THE LORD: Our granddaughter's surgery went well, thanks for your prayers. .

PRAY FOR: The family of Michelle Perry, as the family gather to celebrate her life. 

CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR: Chum and Callie in Michigan.

PRAY FOR PASTOR BILL: As he continues The Word of God without Compromise!

PRAY: For Fred & Debbie.

PRAY FOR Eric: For his work situation.  His eyes are getting better, but his ears are getting worse.  Please continue to pray. 

PRAY: We would always keep the pulpit of the Community Christian Church Sacred and free from the Secular/Profane.

PRAY FOR: Frankie, as she is having Dementia systems!

PRAY FOR: Pastor Bill and the Leadership team of the Community Christian Church of Valley Farms to maintain a Separation between the Profane ( the Secular) and the Pure (the Spiritual) ; between the Holy and the Unholy; protecting the Sanctity and Purity of the Pulpit as the place where the TRUTH OF GOD'S WORD is PROCLAIMED! 

PRAY FOR: The ones in our church who are caught up in the sin of alcohol (drinking),  and   tobacco (smoking), that they would realize the need to FIGHT, and seek the Lord's Help in being  released from this sin.

PRAY/ PRAISE: For our Assistant Pastor Todd, as he continues with his studies into the Master's of Divinity program at Seminary. Give him wisdom Lord!

PRAISE THE LORD: For His sure PRESCRIPTION for fixing any discouragement. It is The Lord Jesus, as He acts through our friends and loved ones-Thank you Lord for your love.

PRAY FOR: The many in and around Valley Farms who are trapped in the ungodly cult of Mormonism and have turned their back on the true Jesus, and there-fore are not saved, and are on their way to HELL!

PRAY FOR: The True  Church of Jesus Christ (NOT THE MORMONS) TO NOT give in to the pressure from the world for Spiritual Correctness, ( that we would confront the make-believer who claims to be believers with the true Gospel of Jesus Christ). The Lord has not given a License to Sin! 

PRAY FOR:  OUR PRESIDENT and VICE PRESIDENT,  as they make their pick of a SUPREME COURT JUSTICE!  A very important decision for the nation!  

PRAY THAT: All who are attending the Community Christian Church, as well as all who have ever attended- The Lord Jesus knows who you are, and He knows your needs. We pray that He will meet your every need. If your need is Salvation, and you have not yet accepted the Lord's invitation to join His family of believers by being born again, I pray that today will be the day you make that decision..

PRAY THAT: All who claim to  know Jesus as Lord and Savior would start to live as if He is Real in their lives, and  will be willing to pay the one debt we owe for our Salvation; that is the debt of LOVE (Romans 13:8)! 

PRAY THAT:  All men who are called into the pastorate would understand the need to separate themselves from the sins of the world, to study to gain advanced Training into a deeper and broader understanding of the LORD JESUS CHRIST & the Holy Bible (2 Timothy 2:15)

PRAY FOR HUMILITY: As Pastor Bill teaches God's Word (1 Timothy 2:2).  Also that the congregation would encourage him, and continue to love and encourage one another ( John 13:34).

PRAY FOR: Our Church BOLDLY continue Teaching God's Word Without Compromise.

FILL IN THE BLANKS!

(Check answers below.)  NOTE! Filling in the blanks each week, could give a serious student of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Bible, an education equal to a Theological degree within two years.

POWER, AUTHORITY, AND THE HUMILITY OF SUBMISSION:  PART 2

SCRIPTURE:  John 1:12

         1.     Power comes from the Greek word “Dunamis” which also means      
                ____________, ability, might, or miracle.

2.     Authority comes from the Greek word “Exousia” which means the right to act or ___________________________ is given.

3.     Submission comes from the Greek word “Hupotasso” formed from two root words:  “Hupo” meaning to put under and “Tasso” meaning to arrange in order.  So the meaning is to ________ in order—under.  It is a ________ word for following in rank order.

4.     Many people crave _______________, but only know secular authority and don’t know how to operate in God’s power and authority so they go on walking in fear.

5.     Jesus is our example.  He had _______________ in his life and was in complete subjection to the Father’s will.

6.     Jesus chose to be our __________ all the way to the cross until He said, “It is finished”.

7.     When we search the _________ we come to understand that ______ is truly our example.

8.     God worked wonders through Jesus, His Son, yet His ___________ Servant.  (John 8:29)

9.     The word “always” has two meanings.  It means in “All Ways” or in ____________ way and it means always, as in _________________ the time.

17. The religious system rejected Jesus.  Many in the religious system reject Jesus today ________________ to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.

19. We need to repent and apologize to the Lord and turn from our __________________.

SALVATION:  Not only to Eternity in Heaven, but from Eternity in Hell!  You MUST, first of all:  Admit You Are a Sinner in Need of a Savior:

•James 2:10 “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles on one (point), he has become guilty of all.”

•Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

•Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Accept God’s Love through the/Sacrifice in His Son Jesus

•Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Turn to God in Repentance

•Acts 20:21 “I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.”

Trust the Fullness Jesus Christ!

•Romans 10:9 “…if you confess with your mouth Jesus as  Lord,  and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved;”

•Romans 10:13 “For whoever calls on the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”

•Romans 10:14 “How then shall they call on Him Who they have not believed?  And how shall they believe in Him of Whom they have not heard?  And how shall they hear without a preacher?

•Romans 10:17 “So then Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.”

•Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek Me (God) and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.”

It may not be easy to give up your old sinful ways, and turn in faith to Jesus Christ; but it is the only way to  SALVATION,  AND IT IS WORTH IT! 

 CALL UPON (THE FULLNESS OF) THE NAME OF JESUS AND YOU WILL BE SAVED!
