Learning God’s Lessons Early in Life

During more than twenty years in law enforcement, I have seen more than my share of wayward and troubled youths. Reflecting over those years, I have heard a countless number of times from parents I’ve spoken to, “he just will not listen to me, make him listen.” Contrary to what many parents would hope for, there is no such thing as the “30-minute pizza delivery” approach to fixing a poorly raised child. Waiting until you realize you have a disrespectful, disobedient, and troubled child is to have wholly missed your parenting opportunity of that child.

In somewhat of an oversimplification of how to possibly curb juvenile delinquency Billy Graham, evangelist, while speaking in Madison Square Garden, offered parents six suggestions on how to accomplish this: 1. Take time with your children, 2. Set your children a good example, 3. Give your children ideals for living, 4. Have a lot of activities planned, 5. Discipline your children, 6. Teach them about God.

In almost every case I have dealt with over the years involving a misbehaving or troubled youth, most if not all those six simple suggestions from Billy Graham was weak or missing from the child’s life. All six of the recommendations he makes could be summarized and combined into the sixth, “teach them about God.”

There are statistics stating, nearly two-thirds of those accepting Christ as their Lord and Savior will have done so by their 18th birthday, further emphasizing the importance of early parental influence and Christian teaching.

Teach your children from an early age how they may follow the Lord; how to know Him and His teachings; learning of His lessons, of what is sinful, of right from wrong, early in the formative years of a child’s life, will shape whom a child will become in later years, and into Christian life in adulthood. The importance of such teachings from early in life is referenced in Proverbs 22:6, “Start a youth out on his way; even when he grows old, he will not depart from it.”

Be an example of Christ-centered living to your children as they grow, so they learn. Titus 2:7–8 “ Make yourself an example of good works with integrity and dignity in your teaching. Your message is to be sound beyond reproach, so that any opponent will be ashamed, because he doesn’t have anything bad to say about us.”

Let your love for the Lord and His word be ever present and be spoken in your child’s presence. Deuteronomy 6:5–9, “Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead., Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your city gates.”

Let us all as parents, and family members alike, take the time to teach and guide our children the way of the Lord, so they may come to lead lives in Christ, accepting Him as Lord and Savior,  learning who He is; reaching their full God-given potential.

PRAY FOR:  Pastor Bill as his COPD is flaring up in the heat and the dust.

PRAY FOR: Carol, Kathy's sister. Carol has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer which has spread to her lungs.  She has started Chemo Therapy.

PRAY FOR:  Continue to pray for Todd for his health.  His test results shows he has a virus further tests will be required.

PRAY FOR:  Keep Rick in your prayers.

PRAY FOR: Continue to pray for Eric.

PRAY FOR: Please keep Fred, Debbie and the medical team in your prayers. .

PRAY FOR: Doug and Claudia Beeks as they deal with many issues.

PRAY FOR: Virginia Perry who is 84 and loosing her sight.

PRAY FOR: Barb Ruesch, who is dealing with cancer. Our dear friend Barb is the wife of our friend and CCRM Lead Chaplain Bob Ruesch.  

PRAY FOR: The many in and around Valley Farms who are trapped in the ungodly cult of Mormonism and have turned their backs on the true Jesus, and there-fore are not saved, and are on their way to HELL! 

PRAY FOR:  OUR PRESIDENT and VICE PRESIDENT.  

PRAY THAT: All who claim to  know Jesus as Lord and Savior would start to live as if He is Real in their lives, and  will be willing to pay the one debt we all owe for our Salvation; that is the debt of LOVE to the Lord Jesus (Romans 13:8)! 

PRAY FOR ALL CONCERNED: As Pastor Bill teaches God's Word (1 Timothy 2:2). As he teaches the Truth of God's word, and rebukes all false gospel. Pray that many would respond to the Truth of God's Word in love and truth.

SALVATION:  Not only to Eternity in Heaven, but from Eternity in Hell!  You MUST, first of all:  Humble yourself and Admit You Are a Sinner in Need of a Savior:

Turn to God in Repentance

•Acts 20:21 “I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.”

Trust the Fullness Jesus Christ!

•Romans 10:9 “…if you confess with your mouth Jesus as  Lord,  and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved;”

•Romans 10:13 “For whoever calls on the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”

•Romans 10:14 “How then shall they call on Him Who they have not believed?  And how shall they believe in Him of Whom they have not heard?  And how shall they hear without a preacher?

•Romans 10:17 “So then Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.”

•Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek Me (God) and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.”

It may not be easy to give up your old sinful ways, and turn in faith to Jesus Christ; but it is the only way to  SALVATION,  AND IT IS WORTH IT! 

 CALL UPON (THE FULLNESS OF) THE NAME OF JESUS AND YOU WILL BE SAVED!
