Thanksgiving and Very Thankful

This Thanksgiving I am thankful to not have cancer. I hope.

Six months ago my family doctor sent me for a CT scan because I went in to be checked out for something that felt weird which ended up being nothing. However the CT scan did reveal some nodules in my thyroid. A local Endocrinologist did a fine needle biopsy and said one of the nodules was thirty percent suspicious of malignancy. I went to another doctor out of town who did the same test that came back inconclusive and then another test which revealed the same nodule was about forty percent suspicious of malignancy. I asked the question "What should I do," and his response was we need to remove the entire thyroid within two months.

I didn't really want to do the surgery and have read many reports about people living their entire lives with thyroid nodules. I have read many die with thyroid malignancy that never caused them any trouble. Of course, cancer anywhere in your body is never working to your advantage.

I agreed to have the surgery and pathology revealed that I not only had a suspicious nodule but four malignant nodules. According to the extensive report I had three malignant ones on the right lobe of my thyroid and one malignant one on the left side of my thyroid. The pathology report, surgeon and supervising Endocrinologist all have assured me that the malignancies were small and contained within the thyroid and no further treatments are necessary at this time. Of course for the rest of my life I will be visiting my doc for surveillance to see if anything nasty pops back up.

This of course is the short version of the story. The main point is I'm better off with cancer out of my body than in my body. This time last year I was clueless that anything so detrimental to my health was lurking beneath the surface. This year I will celebrate Thanksgiving for a miraculous early detection and a surgery that ended up being the only real choice to make.

My voice is not strong yet after the surgery and I have a little pill to take every day but who cares I am alive, feel good and writing this column. I praise God almighty for his grace toward me. I also have to be thankful for medical insurance that provided me a way to go to a place where I chose to go. Two other doctors told me that I only needed half of my thyroid removed and if cancer was found then I could have the other half removed. Who wants to have two surgeries? I did not. The doctor I sought out could not prove I had malignancy on my left lobe but simply said, "I don't like how it looks and I think the whole thing needs to come out." I am grateful that I got to choose my doctor and my place of surgery. Every American should have the option of choosing their doctor and place of medical care.

Some people are not as fortunate. I have several friends who could not beat cancer and passed on this year. Often times the symptoms was already an indication that things were already too late for them to treat their condition.

As a word of caution I want to strongly say that simply waiting to see what your condition does often ends up being an emergency down the road. If you have an early warning then trying to move forward to aggressively eliminate the problem or treat it is the only way to have a chance of winning. Of course, we are talking about our human bodies and there will always be something to repair or deal with concerning our health. We go from one thing to another if we are blessed to live long enough.

Thus, this Thanksgiving I am thankful - very thankful.

• When a father is reached for Christ, 93% of his family will follow.  (Per the Heritage Foundation)

• THE LORD S CALLING FAITHFUL MEN TO LEAD THEIR FAMILIES!

As a pastor, as a minister called by God, I am to trust Him, to believe Him, to teach His Word; the Bible in all Meekness, with Humility, yet, Boldly preach that every Word in the Bible is true; not merely only what I may want to be true; but, that every word is true; and teach it without compromise!
"How can they hear without a Preacher!"

PRAYER REQUESTS AND PRAISE REPORTS

PRAY FOR: Kathy as She has an appointment to consult with her doctor regarding the results of biopsy on Nov. 19th!)

PRAY FOR: The future of the Community Christian Church, as we move to the end of 2018 and into 2019.  The answer is in The Lord's hands. 

CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR: Callie, in Michigan, as she grieves the loss of her husband Chum to brain cancer, after such a hard battle fought.  

PRAY FOR PASTOR BILL: For direction of the Church, into the future!

PRAY: For Fred & Debbie.

PRAY/ PRAISE: For Todd, as he has decided, without the counsel, or, seeking the advice from Pastor Bill, to discontinue his studies in the Master of Divinity program at Seminary. 

PRAY FOR: The many in and around Valley Farms who are trapped in the ungodly cult of Mormonism and have turned their back on the true Jesus, and there-fore are not saved, and are on their way to HELL! 

PRAY FOR:  OUR PRESIDENT and VICE PRESIDENT,  as they make their pick of a SUPREME COURT JUSTICE!  A very important decision for the nation!  

PRAY THAT: All who claim to  know Jesus as Lord and Savior would start to live as if He is Real in their lives, and  will be willing to pay the one debt we owe for our Salvation; that is the debt of LOVE (Romans 13:8)! 

PRAY FOR HUMILITY: As Pastor Bill teaches God's Word (1 Timothy 2:2).  Also that the congregation would encourage him, and continue to love and encourage one another ( John 13:34).

PRAY FOR: Our Church to BOLDLY continue Teaching God's Word Without Compromise until the end.

Power, Authority, and the Humility of Submission:  Part 5

13.  In Ephesians 6:1-2 God commands young people to __________ their parents—both father and mother.  This is not a suggestion it is a command.

14.  We have the responsibility to raise our children up in the ways of ________—not just anyway we see fit.

15.  When the children are ___________________ to their parents, when dad and mom have their lives lined up under God’s authority, when the wife submits herself to her own husband and the husband submits himself to the headship of Christ, and they both submit themselves to the Lordship of Jesus in His Church, then the power and authority that God has promised in His word will be released in that home and that home will become a real powerhouse for the Lord.

16.   Many pastors refuse to give God’s people the meat of the living Word and the refreshing water of the Word.  _____________ must preach the whole truth. (John 8:32; Matt. 25:41)

17. Many church pastors and leaders need to _________________, making sure the main thing is the main thing, serving the Lord Jesus who called them.

SALVATION:  Not only to Eternity in Heaven, but from Eternity in Hell!  You MUST, first of all:  Admit You Are a Sinner in Need of a Savior:

•James 2:10 “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles on one (point), he has become guilty of all.”

•Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

•Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Accept God’s Love through the/Sacrifice in His Son Jesus

•Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Turn to God in Repentance

•Acts 20:21 “I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.”

Trust the Fullness Jesus Christ!

•Romans 10:9 “…if you confess with your mouth Jesus as  Lord,  and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved;”

•Romans 10:13 “For whoever calls on the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”

•Romans 10:14 “How then shall they call on Him Who they have not believed?  And how shall they believe in Him of Whom they have not heard?  And how shall they hear without a preacher?

•Romans 10:17 “So then Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.”

•Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek Me (God) and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.”

It may not be easy to give up your old sinful ways, and turn in faith to Jesus Christ; but it is the only way to  SALVATION,  AND IT IS WORTH IT! 

 CALL UPON (THE FULLNESS OF) THE NAME OF JESUS AND YOU WILL BE SAVED!
