PRAYER REQUESTS AND PRAISE REPORTS
PRAY/PRAISE FOR CHUM: Chum has been doing okay. He will get a chest x-ray next week to follow-up on the lung cancer. They will follow-up with x-rays for the next few months, then he will have a CT Scan of the chest and MRI of the brain in another couple of months. Right now he is stable. Still trying to get his strength back from the chemo, etc., but he's doing ok. Thank God.
PRAY: Michele was doing great, but now she just found out that the cancer has spread to the other side of the brain. She will be going in for full brain radiation. She's already had five brain surgeries. So she needs more prayers. We haven't stopped praying, but now she needs extra prayer.PRAISE FOR: Diane, Phyllis' daughter, who had emergency surgery for appendicitis last night. She is recovering and doing well after the surgery.
PRAISE FOR: Todd's father, Jack, who is home recovering. Please continue to pray for Jack.
PRAISE FOR: Fred and Sandy's great granddaughter, Maddie, who is home from the hospital.
PRAISE FOR: Frankie's daughter Carla who fell and brook her leg, and has to have a hip replacement.
PRAY FOR: Eric for his work situation. His eyes are getting better, but his ears are getting worse. Please continue to pray.

PRAY FOR: Wisdom for our President and his joint chiefs as they consider North Korea and their NUCLEAR threat!
PRAISE THE LORD: For the His sure PRESCRIPTION for fixing any discouragement. It is The Lord Jesus, as He acts through our friends and loved ones-Thank you Lord for your love.
PRAY FOR: The many in Arizona, in and around Valley Farms who are trapped in the ungodly cult of Mormonism and have turned their back on the true Jesus, and there-fore are not saved, and are on their way to HELL!
PRAY FOR: The True Church of Jesus Christ (NOT THE MORMONS) TO NOT give in to the pressure from the world for Spiritual Correctness, ( that we would confront the make-believer who claims to be believers with the true Gospel of Jesus Christ). The Lord has not given a License to Sin!

HAVE YOU FELT LIKE GIVING UP LATELY? DON’T!
Nearly a century ago, Christians were concerned about the “Social Gospel”. Instead of being a lighthouse for lost souls, the Church during those years, became a soup kitchen.
Now, in the first part of the 21st century, Christians need to become aware of, and concerned about the “Culture Gospel”. Instead of being an oasis for the spiritually desperate, the Church in America is becoming a play house of cultural relevancy.
Traditional forms of worship are disappearing as if they were dinosaurs. An atmosphere of reverence in the church is all but extinct. An expectation that people attend church services dressed respectfully for the occasion, is frowned upon by many Churches as archaic and old fashioned – as if there is something wrong with being old fashioned.
Positive thinking won’t make these problems go away and “confessing” that these problems don’t really exist doesn’t change a thing.. So, What is the cure?
There is a very simple answer: Keeping our focus on Jesus Christ. The Church has forgotten to "keep the main thing the main thing". The Church that used to be focused on God and Jesus Christ, is now, in far too many cases, focused on itself.
We must remember that: "the proper place for a ship to be is in the water, but if the water gets into the ship, the ship will sink. The proper place for the Church is in the world, but if the 'world' gets into the church, the church will go down in disgrace."

ReplyDeleteI agree with your Pastor’s corner article, you make some very good points. It brought to mind 2 Tim 4 : 3-4 “ For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.”
The preaching of Christ crucified for our sin and His resurrection for our justification should always be center of a worship service . In our church we speak of law and Gospel as the judge of a service and sermon. The Law condemns the sinner and the Gospel puts that sinner right with God. We follow the historic liturgical worship service which is basically repeating scripture back to God, what better form of worship can there be than using God’s own Word. The center of our worship is Christ. Sadly some church’s worship seek to entertain which takes the focus off of Christ and create a “faith” based on man’s emotion, which is no faith at all because it is based on how one feels. The other error, as you point, out is cultural relevancy. Church’s deny sin, so they can be relevant to the culture. God’s Word is placed below the culture, a social gospel is put in it’s place. Satan works through the church, he does some of his best work there.
You are correct to never get discouraged or give up, these things have always happened and will continue to happen. Our task is simple ,to simply preach , teach and proclaim Law and Gospel. Romans 10: 17 “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing from the word of Christ.”
1 Cor. 12:3 “ No one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Sprit.” The Holy Sprit works through the preached Word to create that saving faith as Christ as their Savior.

Amen to the getting through to the children via the parents, I agree, it's the only way. And the lies, someone need to teach that lying is still a sin, it's one of the worst sins, and so many today brag about how well they can deceive.
