THE ADVENTURE

This week we made a tour of Eastern Arizona making our way through Morenci and driving the Morenci Open Pit Copper Mine that covers an area of about 15 miles and employs hundreds of people.  We were impressed.
  


We headed up US 191 known as the “crookedest” US HWY in America and we proved this to be a fact as we traveled north.
  
Some pictures of the mine.  This is an awesome, gigantic industry.
  
As we headed out of Morenci we came across the sign of 90 miles to the next services.
  
This is some rugged country.  Shortly after we came across a sign restricting vehicles of more than 40 feet in length.  It wasn’t long before we realized the reason behind this.
  
The curves were impressive.  We did look for the big horn sheep, but we didn’t see any.
  
This is bear country and plainly it is not conducive to human habitation, but the highway continued to wind and wind and wind.
  
If you haven’t had this experience we could highly recommend it.  Be prepared for very winding roads and heading for an elevation of over 9,000 ft., but the views are worth it.

BACK AT HO HO KAM VILLAGE

We said farewell to friends, John and Theresa Hackett as they are considering leaving Arizona and returning to their family and friends in New Hampshire.  You will be missed, John and Theresa.

WHITE MOUNTAIN APACHE INDIAN RESERVATION

  The entire area is open range with lots of cattle roaming around. 
  
So it is necessary to be on the lookout at all times.
  
We made our way out to Hawley Lake.  What a beautiful place with good fishing, hiking…
  
and the view is tremendous!  We stopped by and had our lunch at a “local picnic table.”
  
The Indian people that we spoke with said that they were just opening up for the season, but they do have rental cabins and boats…

and a store and restaurant.  It was quite an adventure!
  

NOW BACK TO THE LORD’S WORK

After viewing God’s handiwork this week in Arizona, it was very easy to talk about and to encourage others with the love the Lord God has for us, His people.  Keep looking up as the time gets closer.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

A blessed Mother’s Day to our church family mothers with two red roses.  You are very special to us.  God Bless You!  We thank God everyday for godly mothers and grandmothers.

LAKESIDE/PINETOP, ARIZONA

  
A view from the “Rim”, it seems like you can see “forever”. A hike through the tall pines is a pure..
  
treat, it makes one feel at peace with the world. We made a stop by a small stream to watch …
  
the brook trout play.                                                Down at woodland lake we were pleased to …
  
see a pair of “Cormorants” performing their mating dance, as an Osprey (fish eagle) sores above.
  
But the fish is not not only “for the birds”.            It looks like a pair of Canadian geese has…

decided to change their country of residence, at least for this season, as  this pair has decided to raise a family here in Arizona. Way to go.

HOME IN THE PONDEROSA PINES!

 
It’s time to open up our place in the mountains. Get her cleaned up, un-wrapped, take off the shutters and  make her ready for the escape from the heat in the valley/
 
The pines are so nice, but they sure require a lot of clean up. A sweep off and a wash down of the roof,
 
And we are now ready for the Summer!
 
  We do so enjoy Arizona’s High Country!  With the lakes and tall pines, and as you look just at the tree tops, he’s hard to see, but the speck just above the tree line is a fish eagle, what a sight!

W O W ! Did She Say That Out-Loud?  Makes you hope that our elected leaders would stand up and be counted also!

Australia says NO -- This will be the second Time Julia Gillard has done this!

She sure isn't backing down on her hard line stance and one has to appreciate her belief in the rights of her native countrymen.

A breath of fresh air to see someone lead. Australian Prime Minister does it again!!

The whole world needs a leader like this!

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Gillard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying she supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT... Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

NOTE: Perhaps if  we circulate this around amongst ourselves in Canada & USA , We will find the courage to start speaking and voicing the truth also.

MEANWHILE DOWN IN THE VALLEY

The Valley so low, the cactus are blooming and growing and we can feel the wind blow.
 
It was time for a nice meal and a visit with cousins from  Tucson, Jim and Dee.  Thanks for the visit.
