GO FIGURE!

Isn't It Ironic? The food stamp program, which is part of the Department of Agriculture, is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever. Meanwhile, the Park Service, also part of the Department of Agriculture, asks us to "please do not feed the animals" because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves. Go figure!!!!

PRESIDENT’S DAY FLAG RAISING

On February 20, 2012 (President’s day) A Flag that had been flown over the United States Capitol at the request of the Honorable John McCain, was raised over HO HO KAM Community Village. The flag was Dedicated to the Lord Jesus Christ by the Community’s Chaplain, Pastor Bill Perry, as he prayed, “As You see this flag flying over Ho Ho Kam Oh Lord, I ask that You remember your promise, the day you called us to this ministry, that You will Bless this community of Ho Ho Kam, as they seeks to serve You, Amen”. ( II Chronicles 7:14)

EXPLORING ARIZONA’S BORDER COUNTRY

We reserved a room at Stag Stop Inn and went exploring!

We traveled on roads that we didn’t even know existed and neither did the map makers. We did come across a concerning sign, but the only thing we found was a flock of wild turkeys.

We found some beautiful ranches that were 10 to 12 miles off the paved road. This is really cowboy country!

We came across an old cemetery which was very interesting. We couldn’t help but stop and take some pictures and do a little exploring.

Very Interesting!

Now it was time to return to the Stag Stop Inn as it appears that somebody is ready for a rest!

SUNDAY MORNING

Sunday found us back in church and it was Communion Sunday. We want to thank Derold and Irma in assisting us. It is such a blessing when wonderful folks such as these come forward to help us in our service to the Lord.

In Memory of 1st Sgt Gordon Perry 1959 – 1985 (26 years) of Honorable Service in the US Army.

My brother, Gordon, answered his final bugal call as he was called into Eternity, February 28, 2012.

Thank you all for your prayers. His wife, Lucy, and two sons, Norman and JT, will be needing your prayers of comfort.

PLAY; The “Shindig” a Western Comedy, by Ho Ho Kam’s own Nadine Willette, Charlie & Donna Dobratz.

The annual production was presented to a packed house, each of the 3 nights (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) .The audience was “rocked” and some were “shocked”, but most were just entertained. The production was held at the Ho Ho Kam club house.

BEAUTIFUL ARIZONA

Making a routine, but necessary visit to Luke AFB, we took a little time for a side trip to White Tank Mountain Regional Park. NICE!

A visit to the Visitor’s center, with some really nice saguaro cactus.

The time off was very refreshing.

PRAYER REQUEST

We received an e-mail from Chaplain Bob and Dorothy Swift from Benson, AZ. They will be going to the Mayo Clinic for some test before Dorothy’s surgery that is scheduled for Thursday.

Asking for your prayers for my brother. After 26 years in the Army with 4 tours of duty in Viet Nam, he is now in the hospital with some very serious heart problems in need of prayer. Also be praying for his wife, Lucy and their children Norman and James.

1: firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values : incorruptibility 2: an unimpaired condition : soundness 3: the quality or state of being complete or undivided : completeness

"Do you have integrity?" "Do you want integrity?" "How do you obtain it?"
These are all questions that no matter what walk of life we come from, sooner or later we begin to ask ourselves.

When you endeavor to tackle the subject of integrity, you don't have to travel far before you run into a man known for his integrity and personal honesty - Abraham Lincoln. During his bid for the presidency, he was known as "Honest Abe" even by his opponents. It was a quality he nurtured, and some would say, was the chief gem of his character.

Prior to his running for public office, Lincoln had a private law practice in Springfield, Illinois. Back then, as it is today, lawyers tended to be the butt of many jokes concerning dishonesty and lack of integrity.

From Lincoln's own lips, he admitted that in his day there was a "popular belief that lawyers are necessarily dishonest." So to bring a sense a decency and respect to his chosen profession, anytime he was granted the opportunity to speak to law students, His advice to potential lawyers was this: "Resolve to be honest at all events; and if in your judgment you cannot be an honest lawyer, resolve to be honest without being a lawyer."

Lincoln carried his integrity from his law practice into politics – it was said that because he was considered honest, he didn’t have to convince people he was, and could therefore concentrate on leading. Despite what we see today, it's my assertion that integrity and politics are not mutually exclusive terms! I’m thankful for the men and women of integrity that hold office as we speak, and without getting into the murky realm of partisan politics, I do offer this observation...It's my opinion that though integrity and politics can and should be related, I would have to say they've become distant cousins.

We get our word integrity from the word "integer" which is a number that is whole, not a fraction. Integrity then, has at its core a completeness, a unity, and a soundness about it. You can bring it into practical terms this way - Integrity is who you are when you’re absolutely sure no one else is looking! We've all seen surveillance camera footage of people doing stupid things in convenience stores isles and Wal-Mart parking lots because these people were convinced no one was watching them. People are definitely following their own code of ethics when they're driving on the road. The problem is, though they're alone in the car, they tend to forget every car on the road is surrounded by glass windows...including their own!

Do you have integrity? It's a question best answered by someone other than yourself. Ask your wife and/or children. They'll tell you the unvarnished truth.

Do you want integrity? If not, then read no further. If yes, then start here. Since integrity has to do with wholeness, stop compartmentalizing every area of your life. Understand that one area effects every other area. When we're consistent, that's when we begin to get traction in life. The ”Titanic Myth” is that we’re safer when we compartmentalize our lives, but in reality, we should be the same no matter who we’re with. For example, if you're upset with a decision you're boss made that affects you, take some time to talk with him or her about it. Don't make the mistake of fuming over it all day, then going home and starting a rant on your FaceBook page about how you feel!

You may feel safer hiding behind a computer screen and keyboard, but understand that you've still gone public with your lack of self-control! Your boss (or friend or spouse) will respect you much more if you take the time to confront in private. Here's something worth understanding: Transparency increases your influence…it adds and doesn’t detract!

Every day were faced with small, seemingly insignificant choices that can erode away at our integrity:

Do I return the change the checkout lady gave me by accident? I find a tool my neighbor loaned me three years ago, do I still return it? I get the credit for something someone else did at work. Do I correct the mistake? Do you do what’s right, or what’s easy? Moral, ethical, Biblical, and essential decisions and actions are the fruit that stems from our character and the buried roots of our motives.

So the question really comes down to: How do I obtain it?

As great a man as Abraham Lincoln was, it's best to look to where he found it. After all, isn't the best way to obtain something to go where it's being offered? I like to go to the source, and in our culture, the prevalent source is from the Judeo-Christian book known as the Bible. For hundreds of years it's been the plumb-line for what we consider right and wrong. It's also the place where we're presented not just with a standard, but the standard-bearer Himself, Jesus Christ. What He said was not only true, He is Truth. He not only pointed out the way, He is the Way. He not only lived a life, He is Life.

When we approach and receive righteousness, integrity, and honesty on His terms, we never walk away empty-handed or disappointed.

GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

At the 30th Annual Golden Sweetheart Celebration we celebrated the 50th Wedding Anniversary for ten couples at our park.

Our greeter, Phyllis, with a friendly smile handed out the programs. Nice job, Phyllis.

The clubhouse was decorated with full sweetheart decoration. Each of the hearts that you see on the wall encased couples pictures that had celebrated their 50th wedding celebration here at Ho Ho Kam. This years honorees were seated at the head table.

It was a pleasure to be a part of the Ho Ho Kam Celebration Choir led by Irma sang four numbers including the Anniversary Special with words written by a past Ho Ho Kam Resident.

The guitar and flute music was performed by Indian performers from the local reservation. Some good entertainment.

ORGAN STOP PIZZA

In the town of Mesa, AZ about 35 miles from us we found a “Pizza House”. So we went in to check it out. We found that it is much more than a “Pizza House”. The pizza price was right and was delicious. But what we found that was exciting was the organ!

The organ was a fantastic pipe organ and the organist did a fantastic job with taking requests and entertaining as we enjoyed both the music and the pizza. If you're in the area we recommend that you check it out for yourself.

PICNIC IN SUNNY ARIZONA

Out at the Casa Grande Ruins in Coolidge we took the time to smell the cactus flowers and enjoy a picnic in the sunshine.

SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP SERVICE

The Lord is blessing as each week we have new people coming to the service.

Here, thanks to the piano playing of Nadine and the fellowship set up of Cookie with Charlie and Donna helping us with communion, this was a blessed day in the Lord.

We’re looking forward to a Chile Supper at the Clubhouse this afternoon at 5 p.m. It’s very easy to get “fed up” here at Ho Ho Kam. There are so many delicious food opportunities! We have some fantastic cooks.

TIME OFF FOR “GOOD BEHAVIOR”??

We took some time to make a trip down into “the South”, south of Tucson, that is. We stopped by the Cochise Stronghold south of Wilcox. Then we went as far south as we could go and still be in the US and were stopped by a fenced wall at the Mexican border in Douglas.

After a stop for a quiet leisure lunch we made our way over to Bisbee and then on to Sierra Vista.

We spent the night in Sierra Vista where we could see snow on the mountains—this far south!

We made a tour of Ft. Huachuca.

We took some time to stop by the base chapel.

From there we headed back towards Sonoita where we came across some magnificent, large ranches.

All in all it was a nice get-a-way.

BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL—PINAL COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS

it was a nice day for a picnic on the grounds, or read a book, or just relax. The centennial history of Arizona was noted throughout the fairgrounds.

The crowd was large and enthusiastic and the music was good.

They had an antique car show and speaking of antiques—we fit right in! Above is Pastor Bill standing by a 1954 Chevrolet 2 door hardtop and a 1960 Chevy Bellaire—Really nice!

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR GLENN B. WUTZKE

Glenn B. Wutzke, 38 of Coolidge died on August 9, 2011. Mr. Wutzke was born on August 14, 1972, in North Dakota to Ruben and Leona Wutzke. He lived in Tuttle N.D. for six years before moving to Coolidge. He enjoyed playing Xbox video games and participating in fun activities at the mobile home park, especially involving music. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved using jokes and silly antics to make others laugh. Survivors include his mother, three brothers, a sister, and nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service was held at Ho Ho Kam Villiage RV Park on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. with a pot luck and a celebration of Glenn’s life with Dr. William Perry, park chaplain, officiating.

Preaching that turns the tide

It was J. Sidlow Baxter who said: "Tame and spiritless preaching, common place performances on Sunday, will not break the spell of six days of excitement and influence. We require a Whitfield, or a Wesley, sons of thunder, the spirit of Luther to rebuke this materialistic and utilitarian age. Nothing is more indecent, than a dead preacher, preaching to dead sinners, the living truth of the living God. We should preach as if we’d never preach again....as a dying man to dying men."

Thanks to a friend (If I could just remember their name) who sent this to us. Thanks anyway.

A Smile is Worth a Thousand Words …or More…or was it a Picture???(but I can’t remember which) Just Enjoy!

Senior citizens are constantly being criticized for every conceivable deficiency of the modern world, real or imaginary. We know we take responsibility for all we have done and do not blame others.

HOWEVER, upon reflection, we would like to point out

that it was NOT the senior citizens who took

The melody out of music,
The pride out of appearance,

The commitment out of marriage,
The responsibility out of parenthood,
The togetherness out of the family,
The courtesy out of driving,
The romance out of love,
The learning out of education,
The service out of patriotism,
The Golden Rule from rulers,
The nativity scene out of cities,
The civility out of behavior,
The refinement out of language,
The dedication out of employment,
The prudence out of spending,
The ambition out of achievement or God out of government and school.

Yes, I'm a SENIOR CITIZEN and I think I am having the time of my life!

And we certainly are NOT the ones who eliminated patience and tolerance from personal relationships and interactions with others!!

And, we do understand the meaning of patriotism, and remember those who have fought and died for our country.

Just look at the Seniors with tears in their eyes and pride in their hearts as they stand at attention with their hand over their hearts!

YES, I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN!

I'm the life of the party..... Even if it lasts until 8 p.m.

I'm very good at opening childproof caps..... With a hammer.

I'm awake many hours before my body allows me to get up.

I'm smiling all the time because I can't hear a thing you're saying.

I'm sure everything I can't find is in a safe secure place, somewhere.

I'm wrinkled, saggy, lumpy, and that's just my left leg.

I'm beginning to realize that aging is not for wimps.

Now if I could only remember who sent this to me, I wouldn't send it back to them, but I would send it to many more too!

Politics in our time

SOMEONE HAS SAID, 'We worried about 'the cow' when it is all about the 'Ice Cream.'

From a teacher in the Nashville area,  comes the most eye-opening civics lesson ever told. The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would choose our nominees.. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote. To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.  We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.  We got many nominations and from those Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot. 

The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia 's mother.  The day arrived when they were to make their speeches. Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better Place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Everyone applauded and he sat down.  Now is was Olivia 's turn to speak. Her speech was concise. She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream." She sat down.  

The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream." She surely would say more, but she didn't. She didn't have to.   A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure. Would her parents buy it, or would the class pay for it... She didn't know.  The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream...   Jamie was forgotten... Olivia won by a landslide.  

AND THAT, MY FRIEND, IS HOW BARACK HUSSAIN OBAMA became President of these United States. Every time Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream, and 52 percent of the people reacted like nine year old kids. They wanted ice cream. The other 48 percent knew they were going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess."  The ice cream we got was an economy in shambles; a weakened military; an unemployment rate bordering 18%; and saving interest rates at 1.2%!

Remember, the government cannot give anything to anyone that they have not first taken away from someone else.

POINTS TO PONDER!

When Church becomes a convenience

One of the great tragedies of our day is that the church is no longer relevant with most Americans. Even those who consider themselves believers, church is becoming more of a convenience than a conviction. To a large extent it has become a social club where people gather with friends for a time of socializing, rather than a place of Bible study and Worship. With many it is little more than an entertainment center, where they can tap their feet to the beat of the drums. To others it's simply a place for weddings and funerals and special days for children. And to a large extent it's being supported by fish fries, bean suppers and rummage sales, or what ever loose change someone may have in their pocket on Sunday morning. Some people only go to church on special Holy days such as Easter and Christmas and even then rarely put anything in the offering plate.

The hypocrisy of it all is that we complain to high heaven that the Supreme Court has taken prayer and Bible reading out of public schools and government buildings, yet many who complain allow dust to accumulate on their own Bibles and rarely ever utter a prayer up to God.

Here at HO HO KAM, we offer church service at 9:00 AM in the club house, teaching the Word of God without compromise to all who will attend. We also offer a Bible study on Wednesday morning at 8:30 AM, in building # 1 as well as prayer meeting in our home at #152, and, EVERYONE is welcome

Many today moan and groan about the direction of our country and yet for some unimaginable reason we fail to see any correlation between the irrelevancy of the church and the immorality of society. In essence, the church, as salt, has lost its savor and our light is little more than a flicker. I'm afraid a lot of our convenience worshippers are in for a sad and rude awakening, two minutes after they breathe their last breath.

December 31, 2011 was a wonderful day for a picnic in the park followed by a scenic hike in the dessert. We live in a beautiful area!

NEWS FROM THE PERRY’S

The year 2010 ended with me and Kathy enjoying a quiet time of sitting by a fireplace watching the beginning of another year, and with great expectations as to what the Lord will do with this up coming year. As we give thanks to Him for His blessings.

This year seems to have flown by, as have so many others before this. While doing the work of the Lord, even the challenges become blessings. This year found us with the challenge of planting a church ministry at the HO HO KAM RV Village in Coolidge. Along with the challenges of moving into the park, in starting a new ministry, comes the blessing of getting to know wonderful people like Jenny, the manager, Deloris, Larry and Loretta and many others. In our short time in the park we have seen the sad evidence of sin, as we witnessed the sadness of death. But we have also had the privilege to witness the miracle of a soul’s Salvation, a baptism, and to see the church fellowship grow.
In May we enjoyed a visit from our son Eric from New Jersey, as well as a visit from daughter Jennifer, her husband Ronnie and our granddaughter Kiley from Colorado. And it was our pleasure to have various visits from Fred and Debbie Bell, a niece (seems more like a daughter) and nephew from California. In October Kathy’s sister Carol and husband Victor from Wisconsin came down- it was a joy and our pleasure to show them our little part of the world, South Arizona. What a fun year this made for us.
In June, we made a trip out to Newburgh Seminary in Indiana, where Kathy received the Master of Arts Degree in Church Administration. On our way out, we stopped by in Arkansas for a very enjoyable visit with my (Bill) sister-in-law Shirley Perry. We also took the time to stop in for a visit with friends Jimmie and Francis Lucy in Fulton, KY, a nice visit. It was after returning from Newburgh, that Kathy was appointed to the grading staff of the Seminary.

September found us once more out in Branson, MO with Chaplain’s University, at the University of the Ozarks, where I (Bill) was given the honor of appointment with CRMI as a member of their board of directors. During our stay, we were invited to stay with John Moore, MD, and his wonderful wife Cathy, where we were treated more like family than guests.

In December, we received an early Christmas present (I think), as we were asked to come on staff with Christian Resort Ministries International (CRMI) as; Directors of Training, (Bill) Training Director, and (Kathy) Director-Training Technology. We are trusting the Lord Jesus to supply as we seek to meet the challenge, as well as the blessings of this new responsibility, as we, also, continue to minister as Pastor/Chaplain at HO HO KAM village. We are seeking the Lord’s direction, as we Pray, and seek to design training that will be suitable to meet the needs of CRMI. We ask for your prayers.

We are now looking forward to getting to know many of the part time (snow birds) residents of the park, as we seek to serve the Lord, as we serve them. We understand that this is a work of the Lord in progress, and we are enjoying every step of the way.
It has been truly a full year for us as the Lord continues to use us. Please pray that we may continue to make ourselves wide open so that He may use us in what ever way He sees fit. We are His!
May we forever keep in mind that Jesus Christ is the REASON FOR THE SEASON!

WHICH IS THE TRUE GIFT OF CHRISTMAS?

Christmas 2011 -- Birth of a True Caring Christmas Tradition

As the holidays approach, the giant Asian factories are kicking into high gear to provide Americans with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods -- merchandise that has been produced at the expense of American labor!

This year will be different. This year Americans will give the gift of genuine concern for other Americans. There is no longer an excuse that, at gift giving time, nothing can be found that is produced by American hands. Yes there is! It's time to think outside the box, people. Who says a gift needs to fit in a shirt box, wrapped in Chinese produced wrapping paper?

Everyone -- yes EVERYONE gets their hair cut. How about gift certificates from your local American hair salon or barber? Gym membership? It's appropriate for all ages who are thinking about some health improvement. Who wouldn't appreciate getting their car detailed? Small, American owned detail shops and car washes would love to sell you a gift certificate or a book of gift certificates. Are you one of those extravagant givers who think nothing of plunking down the Benjamin’s on a Chinese made flat-screen? Perhaps that grateful gift receiver would like his driveway sealed, or lawn mowed for the summer, or driveway plowed all winter, or games at the local golf course. There are a bazillion owner-run restaurants -- all offering gift certificates. And, if your intended isn't the fancy eatery sort, what about a half dozen breakfasts at the local breakfast joint.

Remember, folks this isn't about big National chains -- this is about supporting your home town Americans with their financial lives on the line to keep their doors open. How many people couldn't use an oil change for their car, truck or motorcycle, done at a shop run by the American working guy? Thinking about a heartfelt gift for Mom? Mom would LOVE the services of a local cleaning lady for a day. My computer could use a tune-up, and I KNOW I can find some young person who is struggling to get his or her repair business up and running.

OK, you were looking for something more personal. Local crafts people spin their own wool and knit them into scarves. They make jewelry, and pottery and beautiful wooden boxes.

Plan your holiday outings at local, owner operated restaurants and leave your server a nice tip. And, how about going out to see a play or ballet at your hometown theatre. Musicians need love too, so find a venue showcasing local bands.

Honestly, people, do you REALLY need to buy another ten thousand Chinese lights for the house? When you buy a five dollar string of lights, about fifty cents stays in the community. If you have those kinds of bucks to burn, leave the mailman, trash guy or a babysitter a nice BIG tip.

You see, Christmas is no longer about draining American pockets so that China can build another glittering city. Christmas is now about caring about US, encouraging American small businesses to keep plugging away to follow their dreams. And, when we care about other Americans, we care about our communities, and the benefits come back to us in ways we couldn't imagine.

THIS is the new American Christmas tradition. This is a revolution of caring about each other, and isn't that to a large degree what Christmas is about?

Prayer Concerns!

As we move into the Advent Season let’s remember to Pray for our unsaved friends here in our Village as well as around the world.

Satan becomes even more active this time of the year, as he wants to take our mind off the true REASON FOR THE SEASON, and that is, GOD COMING, STEPPING INTO HISTORY in the form of the man called Jesus. Satan will do everything he can to distract us from that truth.

Pray for Kathy and me as we are confronted with anti-Christian sentiment. Remember what the Apostle James tells us in James 4:7-8 (NIV) “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you.”

IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS AT HO HO KAM VILLAGE

Our home is starting to have the look of Christmas, and the aroma of Christmas cookies is in the air.

The club house is getting a bit of a face lift, as the signs of Christmas is everywhere!

We have our Christmas tree up and looking pretty good, with lights on the outside also

The village neighborhood is truly beginning to LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS!

A VISIT FROM A FELLOW CHAPLAIN

Keith and Susan White from Rock Shadows RV Park in Apache Junction paid us a visit on November 29. It was our privilege to share a meal, fellowship, and prayer time with this wonderful couple of God.

VETERAN’S DAY 11/11/11

As I was considering Veteran’s Day I felt this to be very appropriate.

The short list of candidates had been narrowed to one finalist. He was tall and handsome, articulate and experienced. His resume was impressive, his character flawless. Yet, with all that pedigree, the odds of his success were almost nil.

Nevertheless, on June 15, 1775, John Adams stood to his feet during the Second Continental Congress and nominated George Washington of Virginia to be Commander in Chief of the Continental Army.

In retrospect, hiring the forty-three year old former soldier and surveyor was the most important decision of the American Revolution.

Prior to Washington's acceptance speech, Congress gushed about the "large and high-spirited army" and how they would "provide any and all resources necessary." They intentionally misrepresented the facts for fear that Washington would be scared off by the impossibility of the task.

Soon after his humble acceptance, where he declined their monthly salary of $500 in favor of expenses only, Washington discovered the ugly truth about the state of the union. The army's head-count was almost half of what he'd been promised. Furthermore, there wasn't enough food, supplies, pay, guns or ammunition to go around. And, to make matters worse, the enlistment period for most of the soldiers was about to expire.

General Washington's mammoth task was to, 1.) Motivate thousands of cold, unpaid, overworked, underfed, retiring veterans to re-enlist for more of the same; and, 2.) Defeat the well equipped, expertly trained war machine of Great Britain. That's all.

To accomplish these goals, Washington committed himself to a four-point strategy:

1.) To surround himself with young, vibrant officers who could replicate his leadership on multiple battlefields.

2.) To demand military discipline. Most enlistees viewed military service as a secondary job and, as a result, were half-hearted about their responsibilities.

3.) To teach his troops about freedom. In every briefing he spoke of tyranny and liberty, and history in the making. He read and re-read the Declaration of Independence to them. Each day he reminded them that they were fighting to be free.

4.) To offer himself as an example. He would not ask others to sacrifice unless he was willing to do the same. Consequently, during one battle, four bullets ripped through his coat and his horse was shot out from under him. In others, he stayed on horseback for days at a time, riding from one flank to the next, encouraging the men.

In time, the American Revolution was won, a nation was founded, and a national hero was born.

Washington's leadership plan, whether he knew it or not, was biblically based. In fact it's the identical strategy that God has given to us as we lead His church:

1.) "Commit [your teaching] to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." (2Tim 2.2)

2.) "Be serious and watchful...and above all things have fervent love for one another." (1Peter 4.7-8)

3.) "Walk in a manner worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory." (1Thes 2.12)

4.) "Be an example to the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity." (1Tim 4.12)

A General and a Pastor have very similar roles. Both are highly visible and yet can be very lonely. Both hear the applause of adoring troops and yet feel the pain of well-aimed bullets. Their leadership determines the destiny of lives. Generals change history. So do pastors--one life at a time.

At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter

A Pastor’s Perspective

The Task of Shepherding!

Pastors must try to remember at all times that we are ministers to the flock. And we must set out to complete the task of being a shepherd.

I recall a few years back, during a pastor’s conference I overheard a snippet of conversation as I walked through the book displays. The pastor was saying, “I just don’t know most of the people attending our worship services anymore. The only people I see are the deacons and our group leaders I meet with to plan and evaluate our programs.”

A true shepherd knows his sheep and calls them by name (John 10:3). In a congregation of fifty, getting all the names right may not be so difficult. But when you’re the new pastor in a flock of two hundred or more, you may find yourself wishing you could install more RAM in the mental computer. Knowing, remembering, and using the names of the people you serve is one of the most vital ways to communicate that you know them individually. Still, knowing the flock involves more than just knowing their names. It means being with them enough to know their personality traits (impulsive or impatient, artist or engineer), their character (honest, loyal, suspicious, proud), their spiritual gifts, their responses under pressure, their willingness to learn and follow the leader, their ability to handle money. This in-depth awareness of individuals in the flock, and the flock as a whole, should be a priority.

The primary goal of the pastor should be to introduce and relate persons to Jesus Christ. We are to reflect on the fact that we are called to be shepherds, not chief executives officers. By internalizing the Biblical job description of shepherd and redefining the church’s understanding of itself as a spiritual flock, we can positively transform the culture’s perception of the Church of which Jesus Christ is the Chief Shepherd.

Chaplain’s Corner

OFFICERS AND CPO DINNING IN--GRACE

A dinning-in is a formal dinner given by a unit or organization. It may honor a departing member or welcome a new one. The primary elements of a dinning-in are: a formal setting, a fine meal, the camaraderie of the members of the mess, traditional toasts to the President and the Military Service and the attendance of honored guest. There are two officers of the mess. The President and the Vice President affectionately called Mr. or Madam Vice. As the music stops, the Colors posted and the National Anthem played, the President will rap for attention and announce Gentlemen/Ladies, the Grace. The Chaplain will then come forward and ask that all stand and will say Grace. Upon completion, all members will be seated and at the sound of the gavel begin eating the meal.

WINTERIZING!

It’s hard to believe that it is time to winterize our place up in the north country. We went this week to close up our place in Pinetop/Lakeside. Winter is starting to set in. But we went to get the job done and we did it!

We got back just in time to join the group for a jam session in the clubhouse. It’s nice to once again seeing folks exercising their talents.

SUNDAY

The morning was dedicated to serving and worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ. What a blessing to have committed folks join us in praise and worship of our Savior and Lord.

TIME OUT!

We took some time out on Saturday, October 1 to take a trip over to Willcox, AZ for Rex Allen Days.

On our way over we stopped by Benson at San Pedro RV Resort for a visit with Chaplain Bob and Dorothy Swift. We had such a nice visit that our plans for taking some pictures went by the wayside. What a wonderful couple!

In Willcox we pampered ourselves by having a nice BBQ dinner at Big Tex Bar-B-Que. We were certainly not alone in enjoying Arizona’s finest cuisine.

We took the time to enjoy the Rex Allen Days sidewalk activities as well as a visit from an old cowboy and some pretty good western music.

We topped the day off by going to an exciting Arizona rodeo!

Sunday morning was a time for reflection on God and all the blessings that he has given us.

We have moved back into the clubhouse.

FROM BAD TO WORSE

Exodus 5:1-14, 22-23
Exodus 6:6 “I am the Lord; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians…and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm.”

       It happened again. I got the urge to clean my office. Before I could resist. I had created an even bigger mess than I started with. One pile turned into many piles when I started sorting books, papers, and magazines. As the mess mushroomed, I lamented that I had started. But there was no going back.

     When God recruited Moses to rescue the Hebrews from slavery, their situation went from bad to worse as well. There was no doubt that the job needed to be done. The people had been crying out to God to help them (Ex. 2:23). Reluctantly, very reluctantly, Moses agreed to appeal to Pharaoh on behalf of the Hebrews. The encounter did not go well. Instead of releasing the people, Pharaoh increased his unreasonable demands. Moses questioned whether he should have started (5:22-23). Only after a lot more trouble for a lot of people did Pharaoh let the people leave.

     Whenever we set out to do something good, even when we’re certain that God wants us to do it, we shouldn’t be surprised when the situation gets worse before it gets better. This doesn’t prove that we’re doing the wrong thing; it just reminds us that we need God to accomplish everything.

That the Lord Jesus Christ Himself will continue to be our Faith, our Rock and Protector.

That we would be wrapped in His love of protection from all evil as we serve.

A wonderful experience of training as Barbara Ruesch “signed” us up.

Always a hot cup of coffee, a bagel, toast and fruit galore. Sally and Barb setting up for our lunch; a person could get “fed up” pretty easy!

We were taught “how to lead like Jesus” by Luke Kuepfer during day one and two.
On day three and four Ron Lint taught “Apologetics” or how to defend the truth of the Bible.

Our “table mates” were Dr. Dan and Laura Griffin and Paul and Mary Anne Ellsworth. We were blessed

We were blessed to be a part of the 54th year celebration of Dan & Laura’s wedding. CONGRADULATIONS!!!!!!

Touring the campus as we did our walks each morning was great, but the best yard sign was found in the yard of Dr. John and Cathy Moore.

At the home of John and Cathy Moore, where we stayed for the week, we felt more like family than guests.
We were BLESSED to leave Branson with a number of new found friends, and surely among them were Dr. John and Cathy Moore- Thank you for your hospitality and friendship.

We arrived in Branson safely in time for the 9-11 remembrance at the University of the Ozarks

Our education started with our board meeting and planning meeting at the College of the Ozarks Baptist Student Union Building,

where Dr. Perry was appointed on the directors board- What an honor.

Dr. Dan Griffin leading us in prayer- with teaching on John’s Gospel

We took some time to go for walks around the campus- we met a pair of swans, who gave us a hardy welcome. The chapel on campus was constructed by students of the college.

We had the opportunity to go sight seeing, and what a sight it is. Water, the many oak trees, and the damn in the fore-and back ground.

This view is for Amber and Julie Miners, with what ever good or not so good memories of “the Super Eight”. We spent the week with John More, M.D. and his wonderful wife Cathy. What a joy to get better acquainted with this wonderful Christian couple, WE WERE BLESSED. Pastor Bill standing in front of the More’s home.

Both Kathy and I look forward to our our return to Coolidge, and seeing you all again.

WE WILL BE HAVING CHURCH ON 9/18 at 9:00 am Lord willing.

“Hi Lord, its me.

We are getting older and things are getting bad here. Gas prices are too high, no jobs, food and heating costs too high. I know some have taken you out of our schools, government and even Christmas, but Lord I'm asking you to come back and re-bless America . We really need you! There are more of us who want you than those who don't! Thank You Lord, I Love you.”

I received the above in an e-mail this week, and I really liked it, but there’s a missing element. It is expressed in my comments below.

WHEN GOD SPEAKS WE NEED TO OPEN OUR EARS AND LISTEN!!!! DO WE?

My comment is; We all need to remember that God told us what He requires of us if we truly want our nation blessed; 2 Chronicles 7:14, "If My people (Christians), who are called by My name, will humble themselves (stop thinking "I'm ok-you’re ok” ), and pray (truly get on your face and talk to God), and seek My face (find out what pleases God, get your information from the Bible, and do it!) and turn from their wicked ways (stop sinning-stop living in sin), then I will (here it is) hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land".

That’s it in a nutshell!

That is all we have to do, and if we will do our part I'm sure the Lord will do His part of once more re-blessing us as a Nation and as a people.

If the Lord is speaking to you through this, please listen and don’t turn your back. Your prayers as well as your actions are needed.

The ministry is growing strong and we are all looking forward to the return of our northern brothers and sisters.

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE

Our 7 year old granddaughter, Kiley, from Colorado has enlisted us into a school project where the children draw a picture of themselves, cut it out and send it out to someone who’s willing to be involved. We were it. The purpose is to see how many geographical locations and scenes of pictures that can be taken with this flat person. So here are a couple of pictures of Flat Kiley from this morning. We won’t bore you with the many pictures we took. We will be sending them up to the school in Colorado so Flat Kiley can report back on her adventures.

We have a new camera person. I think she is following in her mother’s footsteps. Also, she’s helping her grandma “Lita” with the music.

It is our privilege to serve the Lord here at HO HO KAM as He continues showing us the opportunities He has for us in ministering to the needs of His people.

“And Samuel said, hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to harken than the fat of rams.” 1 Samuel 15:22

It is written, “Obedience is better than sacrifice.” I say it is also better than blessing.

Faith comes by using what you have. Don’t wait for obstacles to be removed. Go forth anyhow! The most critical part of faith is “the last half hour.”

My Point of View The Mayonnaise Jar

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, When 24 hours in a day is not
enough; remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and start to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured it into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous 'yes.' The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed. 'Now,' said the professor, as the laughter
subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things - family, children, health, friends, and favorite passions, things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the things that matter like your job, house, and car. The sand is everything else -- The small stuff. 'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, You will never have room for the things that are really important to you. So...

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Go out to dinner with your wife or husband;There will always be time to clean the house and fix the dripping tap. "Take care of the golf balls first -- the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The
professor smiled..."I'm glad that you asked' that." It just goes to show you that no
matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee
with a friend..' Please share this with other "Golf Balls" And REMEMBER I take mine
with a little MILK!

using foul language and almost woke up his audience.

President Obama said last week that the downgrading of our credit rating should give

We made a trip to Mesa to pick up our sidewalk church sign. On the way we had to make a few detours because of storm damage between Coolidge and Mesa.

Storm Damage in San Tan/Queen Creek

About 15 to 20 miles north of us in the San Tan/Queen Creek area the wind did some pretty bad damage on Thursday night. There was some tree damage and power lines were down. Below are some of the pictures of the damage.

REFLECTING BACK

As we reflect on the events of this past week, our hearts go out to the ones who have lost loved ones: Leona Wutzke, in the loss of her son, Glenn, and Gale and Elaine Holmes in the loss of their son. Our hearts are saddened and reach out to them in prayer.

We are perplexed sometimes, but are thankful that the Lord Jesus Christ is never perplexed.
In 2 Cor. 1:3-4 we read, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, Who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”

Romans 8:28, “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purposes.”

Romans 8:38-39, “I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

The Lord Jesus Christ loves us more than we can even love ourselves. You must (Prov. 3:5) “trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”

CHRUCH SERVICES BACK IN #1

The Arizona temperature is still warming up! Thank God for Air conditioning.

We moved the Church Service into unit #1, As I welcomed our guests, the AC did feel mighty fine, mighty fine - we all received a Blessing from the Lord as Kathy shared her music with us. We are truly Blessed.

The congregation singing was Great! The Teaching today was on New/Old wineskins. We ended the service with the offering of Communion. What a BLESSING to be serving the Lord!

We continue our focus this week on CRM, Intl.

Wisdom in traveling – Chaplains are always on the move. The cost of fuel is going to continue to be a factor for the faith based ministry along with the hazards of traveling. Chaplain University - Training for RV & Medical Chaplains

Students continue to enroll – but we can always teach to a few more! Pray that God will lay conviction upon the hearts of those He would like to see at Chaplain University and that the subject matter would be meaningful and valuable to the students as they go forth.
The teaching staff – staff continues to prepare to bring direction, education, opportunity and God’s word to the students who will.

Prayer and Effort - By Augustine
Reject those who say we need only our own free will and not Prayer to help us keep from sin. Even the Pharisee wasn’t blinded by such darkness. For although he mistakenly thought he only needed his own righteousness (and believed he was saturated with it), nevertheless, he thanked God that he wasn’t “like other men, unjust, extortions, adulterers, or even as the publican; for he fasted twice in the week, he gave tithes of all that he possessed.’… Even so, God didn’t approve him because he did not ask for additional righteousness, as though he was full of it already. He also arrogantly preferred himself to the tax gatherer who hungered and thirsted for righteousness. So then, what about those who acknowledge they don’t have righteousness, but believe they can find it within themselves instead of seeking their Creator, the source of all righteousness?

Yet it isn’t a question of prayers alone, as if we don’t need to include our willful efforts. For although God is “our helper,” we cannot be helped if e don’t make some effort f our own. God doesn’t work out our salvation in us as if we are dull stones or creatures without reason or will.

Augustine (354-430 ad) Augustine is considered by many to be the most important church father and is likely the most widely known due to his writing Confessions.

Augustine is my favorite character out of History, and I am looking forward to meeting him in Glory. (Dr. Dan)

Free Medical Clinics, Food/Clothing Banks

Hope Clinic in Eufaula, OK Please pray that the Lord would send the perfect personnel and volunteers to minister to those who need not only medical help but spiritual help as well.
Praise for Hope Clinic is that there are three chaplains serving at the clinic!
Tree of Life Clinic it is a challenge to support a medical clinic, whether in a metro, urban or rural, farm setting. Pray that God will bring people along side our dedicated staff to minister.
Eufaula Food Bank, with the recession and the depth of unemployment in the area the shelves are becoming empty. Any help would be appreciated. When at the grocery store consider purchasing a few extra food or staple items to supplement the empty shelves.

Free Medical Clinic of Branson - FMCO is growing each month, pray for the staff, the clients and the community to learn and know Jesus.

Pray for me as I minister not only with Life Borders but preach in local churches in the community. Sr. Chaplain Richard McCool

Sanctuary Outpost – Beyond the borders and stewardship

We are working on coordinating efforts for coordination with some church planters as they answer the call of God to move beyond the borders to bring the word of God to others in . Pray we can be a support and coordinator to make their opportunities effortless as they start to look at sharing the work and word of God.
Presenting the works of CRM international is paramount to bringing recognition and support to the mission, please continue to pray for appointment opportunities to share about the ministry.

A BREAK FROM THE HEAT

We took a few days break from the heat of the valley and made a visit to Pinetop/Lakeside.

With the temperatures ranging in the upper 70s to low 80s we took some time for a picnic and a walk around Woodland Lake.

BACK IN THE VALLEY

Near Ho Ho Kam Village a camper’s propane tank blew up. What you see in the picture is all that was left. No one was hurt.

Our numbers at Ho Ho Kam continue to diminish, but praise the Lord for the ones who come out on Sunday mornings to worship the Lord with us as we encourage one another. Thank You!

PANCAKE BREAKFAST AT THE CLUBHOUSE

As Larry cooks up and serves the pancakes, along with the sausage, topping it off with a good cup of hot coffee, YUM! We are truly Blessed with a Family of Friends, good Food and Great Fellowship here at HO HO KAM Village.

MEETING WITH THE COOLIDGE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

A meeting with the CCC, working at bringing in a new industry that will add up to 800 new jobs to Coolidge.

DESERT ROSES

Even in the Arizona Summer, it becomes necessary at times to take care of some over-growth. We both got out pretty early this morning, before the heat of the day (110 degrees), to cut back some over growth in our roses. Some of the thorns were 1 1/2 inches long. A job well done, now we can get into our house without becoming victims of the “Roses”.

This week the park lost one of it’s own. Judy Marcy lost her battle with cancer. Please be praying for her husband, John and their family as they deal with this tragedy in their lives. Pray that the Lord will draw John closer to himself through this loss.

On July 4, 2011, at about 11:30 a.m. about 20 residents of the Ho Ho Kam Village community gathered at the flag pole near the park entrance at 1925 S. Arizona Blvd. in Coolidge to dedicate and raise the American Flag over the park. The flag was a gift through Senator John McCain. The flag had been flown over the nation’s capitol in Washington, D.C. and was raised into place by Steve Flowers and dedicated by Dr. William Perry, chaplain of the Ho Ho Kam Village Community. A certificate of authenticity was presented to Village Manager Jenny Donoghue by Chaplain Bill.

A First Hand View of The Wallow Fire Aftermath

As we headed out into the White Mountain Apache Reservation, at first glance it looked much like the year before with the cattle free to roam fenceless on the open range. As we drove east on AZ 260 out of Pinetop we noticed most of the forest roads were closed.

Heading into Greer, we noticed a trailer designed for the Catastrophe Response Team, still active in the area. As we drove into Greer we could see the destruction from the fire. Burned building…..

as well as burned over forest area.

A temporary restaurant is set up in the area, and now sand bags are being place d around some of the buildings for fear of monsoon flooding.

We took some time out for lunch at a road side park near a beautiful high country lake.

As we returned to Pinetop/Lakeside, it just about broke our hearts to see the amount of devastation caused by the fire, and this is such a small part of the total devastation.

INDEPENDENCE DAY!

On July 4, 2011, at about 11:30 a.m. approximately 30 residents of the Ho Ho Kam Village community gathered at the flag pole near the entrance to the park to dedicate and raise the American Flag over the park. The flag was a gift through Senator John McCain. The flag had been flown over the nation’s capitol in Washington, D.C. The flag was raised into place by Steve Flowers and dedicated by Dr. William Perry, chaplain of the Ho Ho Kam Village Community. A certificate of authenticity was presented to Jenny Donoghue, Village Manager by Chaplain Bill.

After the ceremony there was time for feast and family fellowship.

INDEPENDENCE DAY

PRAY THAT ONCE MORE GOD WILL BLESS AMERICA!

Psalm 127:1 “Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain…”
Few Experiences in life can equal for drama or sheer delight, of standing on a boat with a group of fellow believers on the deck of an Israeli boat shoving off from Tiberius toward Capernaum across the Sea of Galilee. Shortly after the little boat leaves dock, the crew conducts a time-honored ceremony of raising the flags of Israel and the United States. With hands on hearts and eyes fixed on the stars and stripes fluttering in the wind, it’s here that we anticipate the familiar strains of our national anthem. But, as often as not, it is not the familiar “Star Spangled Banner” we hear, but a rousing rendition of Kate Smith singing Irving Berlin’s, “God Bless America.” Things being what they are today, the choice of “God Bless America” as a theme song for those of us who love this Great country and what it stands for, seems to be a pretty good idea. Above the sound and fury of the acrimonious political battle swirling about us is a far greater and potentially more devastating conflict. It is the all-out struggle for the very soul of America and, for that matter, the entire western world.

I have a question! Some time in your most negatively contemplative mood, have you ever believed that you would one day hear a pastor in an American pulpit petition God to “Damn America,” only to be lionized as some kind of hero and role model for the “disenfranchised” of this country?

But it has happened you know. Now, along in this mix are the radical, secular-left revolutionaries who have a deep seated hatred for America and her traditions as well as for people whose lifestyles and values may differ from theirs. While they are fond of shouting “Bigot” to any who dare disagree with them (especially evangelical Christians) they, in fact, actively suppress the rights of their opponents. Now, don’t get me wrong, I know that America is not perfect. There are many flaws that need to be analyzed and addressed objectively. However, if you fancy every terrorist or tyrannical, religious political element to be a victim of western imperialism and aggression, you have little time or inclination to think through the issues. This method is strictly Pogoian; “We have met the enemy, and he is us.”

For example, Israel is considered an oppressor of the people who desire to wipe the Jewish state off the map. And when these “victims” are finished with Israel, they plan to move on to Europe, and next will be the United States. This pandering to those whose design is to destroy was so highly evident, I’m sorry to say, when former President Jimmy Carter went to the Middle East some time ago to consort with Israel’s and I might add, America’s avowed and unrepentant enemies. Carter provided aid and comfort—not to mention credibility—to Hamas, one of this planet’s foremost bands of thugs, terrorists and murderers.

Now we need to understand that for the advocated of the “Vietnamization” of America’s foreign policy, the mission is surrender and humiliation as opposed to honor and victory. To their way of thinking, freedom and democracy are not worth fighting for. We know and understand, that wars are always unfortunate and unpopular, but when the issue is survival, there is really no other option if we want life and liberty rather than perpetual servitude or death.

Despite derision from America – loathers, the “Four Freedoms” articulated by President Franklin Roosevelt are no laughing matter. President Roosevelt spelled them out to the 77^th Congress on January 6, 1941: They are; Freedom of Speech and Expression, Freedom of Every Person to Worship God in His Own Way, Freedom From Want, and Freedom From Fear. The words “Land of Opportunity” is more than a slogan. These words represent hope—real hope. It’s true, we need change in our land, but surly not the strident cries for change promised today, that might better be called social revolution.

Our forefathers, revered their new found flag and country, as they set out with simple tools, and limited advantages, but with great determination to succeed. It was from their simplicity and determination, there arose something profound and beyond comprehension; it’s called the United States of America. The future of America, is up to you and me, it’s future is in our hands. What we do now with that future will soon become our legacy. And truly, it will not be much of a legacy I fear, unless we remember what our nation’s founders knew; Psalm 33:12, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…”

Our Focus This Week is on the Wallow Fire here in Eastern Arizona

What you see are not clouds, but smoke that fills the, otherwise clear Arizona sky.

As we were up in the area of Pinetop and Springerville, with the many families being displaced by this devastating fire, prayer is NEEDED! Pray that many will see the hopelessness of trusting in “Material THINGS”. Pray, they would look to the Lord Jesus Christ for their safety, security, and Salvation.

AZ Hwy 260 between Pine-top and Springerville is closed off as the last evacuee leaves Springerville for the Lakeside-Pinetop Blue Ridge High School, being used as an evacuation rescue center.

Note the evergreen forest, an ample supply of fuel for the fire. Pray for the many Fire Fighters, as well as others, including the Red Cross, working night and day attempting to contain this blaze.

This Fathers day,the question is asked!

Are dads expendable? Some believe they are, read on!

The words “duty” and “sacrifice” always come to mind when I think of my Dad. Dads have fought wars for us: The Big War, WWII; A war to save the world from the iron will of Hitler; the Korean War, sometimes called the forgotten war, but you know, from 1950 to 1953, almost 34,000 American men died in that war. And then there was Vietnam, where many served bravely, only to return home to derision; then it was the Persian Gulf; Somalia, Kosovo, and now Afghanistan and Iraq. Many a father has come home from war to embrace their children, only to be greeted as strangers, others kissed tearful children goodbye and returned with large chunks of their lives missing. And some of those relationships were never healed.

In all of these places, American men filled a father’s role for the children of the world. At this point all I can say is, thank you, Dads, for your sacrifices, your blood, and your very lives, given to keep unborn generations of children from harm. And again, Thank you Dads, for getting up every day and slogging away at sometimes boring and even dangerous jobs, and why? To put food on the table. You built our schools and our hospitals, you cut our roads out of solid rock, transformed our wilderness, because there were little mouths at home to feed. You know, there is something comforting and secure for children who know that Daddy’s around, Dad provides a solid foundation for their lives.

Things are not at all well, because dad is not home in more than 40% of our American homes. Today there are far too many homes where children live without their biological daddy, and millions of kids will become fatherless this year. But does it really matter; I mean really matter!

Well, yes, it does. Pediatricians are seeing huge increases in the number of emotional problems, such as ADHD, learning disabilities, depression and suicide among America’s kids. New research has directly linked these problems with the increase in single parenting (meaning “no father”), and also resulting in additional family poverty. The absentee father problem is fraying our social fabric. If you are reading this, and you are an absentee father; pick up the phone, don’t wait, give your son or daughter a call! If you can’t call, write them a note and tell them you love them.

I wonder what impact it would have on our world today if; when our children looked into our eyes as fathers, they would see captured in those eyes the very images of God? You see, that’s the difference between a father of worth and a father of value. A father of worth is more concerned about creating an image in the eyes of his children that they can never live up to, while a father of value sets a standard. It’s with his eyes that he leads the way for his children to go and achieve beyond his legacy.

In Genesis 27:34 we find a scene that has been replayed in many homes throughout the centuries. Esau looks into the dimly-lit eyes of his father Isaac, and with bitter tears he cries, “…bless me-me too, my father.” More than our possessions and our pull in life, our children desperately are crying out for our acceptance, for affirmation, and our affection.

I often wonder how captivated Adam’s heart must have been, when he first set his eyes on his first son; he must have been truly captivated by this miniature version of himself? Or who could even imagine the sparkle in Abraham’s eyes to finally see his promised son?

As a father, you may have many secrets held in your heart, but your eyes are truly a window into the very soul of your private world of emotions. The truth is, a father’s eyes are only as good as what they are filled with.

Father, are your eyes filled with judgment and self-righteousness, or are they filled with love? Oh, that our children might find in our eyes, eyes that are worthy to be looked into, and when they look into our eyes, they might see the reflection of the Lord Jesus’ love looking back at them.

Summer opportunities for our Chaplains to boldly share the eternal opportunity of Christ where they are serving.

Medical challenges – several of CRM Chaplains and wives are experiencing surgery and recovery, pray for spiritual guidance for the Doctors and their staff and for a full and fast recovery.

Loss of family – a Chaplain has recently buried his mother, pray for him, his wife and family during this time of grieving adjustment, she was a believer, so Heaven has another citizen!

Wisdom in traveling – as the summer comes upon us, please pray we will wisely use this time for renewal and opportunities to share the mission of CRM to individuals, owners and managers of RV Resorts.

Chaplain University - Training for RV & Medical Chaplains

Pray for the couples and individuals – who are enrolling in this course of study that their finances, travel and educational opportunity would be glorifying to God

Pray for the teaching staff – that they would boldly teach the word of God, the subject matter would be what God wants to be taught

Student enrollment – for those who are thinking of coming, that they would be moved to seek and hear God’s calling to be a part of Chaplain University.

Just this week, a man asked this question, “What do you want for the ministry of CRM International?” The answer was not hard to share with him. I want an “Evangelistic Atmosphere” to be a mainstay of every worker in our ministry. Across our land and around the world great ministries are known for their love for the souls of men. Churches and Missionary Ministries with such a longing in the heart of its workers are constantly being blessed of the Lord. My heart is determined to witness of the saving grace of God at every opportunity afforded me.

What exactly is an “Evangelistic Atmosphere?” Does it mean that salvation is the only thing preached in our ministries; absolutely not, but in each message there should be something that convicts the heart of the lost.

To answer the important question, a ministry with an “evangelistic atmosphere” is simply one whose heartbeat, breath of life and very purpose for existence revolves around the premise that the lost must be won to Christ. Join me as you pray for our workers, that they may produce such an atmosphere in their work.

Free Medical Clinics, Food/Clothing Banks

Hope Clinic in Eufaula, OK is in need of more doctors (only one is serving there now and has been faithful since 2002. Nurses are needed at the Clinic to support the medical work being offered there for the citizens of the community.
Praise for Hope Clinic is that there are three chaplains serving at the clinic!

Tree of Life Clinic in southeast Iowa, is in desperate need of Doctors, nurses, office staff, pharmacy help and other volunteers.

Eufaula Food Bank, the shelves are showing signs of much needed items of food as the demand continues. Food banks across the country are not able to serve the hungry, pray that Eufaula Food Bank can keep it’s shelves filled and its doors open.

Free Medical Clinic of Branson - in Branson, MO is seeing more and more individuals who are in need. Pray for staff as the increase in hours is contemplated.

Pray for Richard McCool as he continues to serve as Director of Life Borders, his support, his health and wisdom to complete the tasks that have been assigned to him.

Beyond the borders and stewardship

Prayers for relief from the weather of tornados, drought, storms and protection for those who are in harms way not only from weather but from attacks from the dark forces of this world.

We are looking for a home church, please pray that we will be sensitive to God’s direction and guidance.
As we close the secular part of our lives and enter full-time ministry, please pray that transition will go smoothly and we can focus on the work of the Lord.

Remembering America and those who served this Memorial Day

In his best selling book, “Slouching Toward Gomorrah” attorney Robert Bork speaks like a modern-day prophet as he speaks of the liberal elites, whose “attitude toward religion, ranges from indifference to active hostility, and have succeeded in removing religion from public recognition and debate.”

He continues, “Only religion can accomplish for a modern society what tradition, reason, and insight observation cannot.

Christianity and Judaism provide the major premises of moral reasoning revelation by the accounts recorded in the Bible.”
Even so, we are now asked to consider the latest flavor-or-the-month, new age gibberish presented to us in Eckhart Tolle’s latest book, “A New Earth”; following an endorsement by the current diva of pop TV, Mr. Tolle’s “Spiritual Self-Help Guide” has sold massive numbers, and has topped the bestseller list of Mr. Tolle’s book sends traditional, Biblical Christianity straight into the trash bucket in favor of an amalgamation of eastern mysticism and self adoring, new age “Phycobabble” that delivers nothing but more of the ego-centric fumbling that the purveyors promise us deliverance from.

What Tolle and his fans propose is a return to what we humans, thanks to Biblical Christianity and Judaism, escaped from; pagan adoration of and servitude to false gods. Only this time, the god under construction is centered in self. This is a contemporary miniversion of the pagan “many gods” lore that stamps out tolerance for the one true God who is as equally despised by the neopagans as He was by their ancient forbearers.
Along in this mix are the radical, secular-left revolutionaries who have a deep-seated hatred for America and its traditions, its people, whose lifestyles and values differ from theirs. While they are fond of shouting “bigot” to any who dare disagree with them (especially evangelical Christians), they, in fact, rabidly suppress the rights of their opponents.

Now, we all know that America is not perfect. There are many flaws that need to be analyzed objectively and addressed. But though this is true, there is still a vast difference between self-analysis and self-loathing.
Objective self-analysis leads to correction; self-loathing, on the other hand, can lead to despair, violence, and even suicide.

The principle of objective self-evaluation is made plain in the Bible’s instructions for communion. The apostle Paul admonished believers to examine and judge themselves for the purpose of correction before taking communion (1 Cor. 11:28-31). However, if you fancy every terrorist or tyrannical, religious political element to be a victim of western imperialism and aggression, you have no time or inclination to think through the issues. The method becomes strictly pogoian; “We have met the enemy, and he is us.”

We who love freedom, know, freedom and democracy are worth standing firm on and fighting to preserve. Should we just give up, and hope our adversaries will be reasonable humanitarians—Duh! Sorry! It doesn’t work that way. Freedom is very hard to come by and even more difficult to keep. Wars are always unfortunate and often unpopular. But when the issue is survival, there is really no other option; it’s liberty or perpetual servitude and death.

A fellow of Italian descent once shared the jubilation of his family as their steamship entered New York Harbor and caught sight of the Statue of Liberty. “They yelled so loud,” he said, “they couldn’t hear the noise of the cattle on the boat!” They all came here looking for a hand up, not a hand out. Now, today, we might ask, what held together such a diverse aggregation without common heritage; language; or, worship forms? Well, basically, it was a passion to become citizens of their newly adopted country! The history of this great republic has borne out, their passion was well founded. The Words Land of Opportunity was more than a slogan. From their determination arose something profound, beyond comprehension; it’s called America! When families can walk to their chosen houses of worship on Sunday morning without fear of bombs, clubs, or political-religious enforcers; now, that’s progress worth defending with every fiber of our collective being. The question is, how long will this progress last? Well, I guess that is up to you and me, as to the legacy we leave behind. It will not be much of a legacy unless we remember where the foundation rests; look at Psalm 33:12, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord”.

Our son Eric’s visit to Arizona was a true pleasure, as we gave him a tour of our wonderful state.

Starting with our Coolidge location, and a visit with our friends at the HO HO KAM RV Community. Next it was up through Salt River Canyon area, and on up to the 7,000 ft. elevation around Show Low. I’m sure Arizona has not seen the last of Eric, nor has Eric seen the last of Arizona.

Due to administrative decisions that were being made regarding the Clubhouse, it was necessary to move our church service to a smaller building near the Ho Ho Kam office. Praise the Lord we had nearly a full house. The Lord is blessing.

Our residents in the park are now primarily our full time summer people. Some are in need of prayer because of age and health problems. They need our prayers! We ask that you keep them in your prayers as you read our newsletter. Lord Bless you!

WE SERVE A GREAT GOD!

On May 9th the HO HO KAM Village water supply was disrupted because of a major water leak in the main water supply line in the park. The water had been disrupted for a few hours, and it appeared that this would continue on for a while. It appeared that much additional digging would be required before the work could be completed, and the water turned back on. Some of the residents were starting to express their concerns. Pastor Bill lifted the concerns up before the Lord. Praise the name of Jesus Christ, He answers prayers. Within 20 minutes the residents had their water restored, and within 30 minutes the whole matter was completed, with only the back-fill left to do. Our Lord is Faithful!!! All Praise and Glory goes to Him!

Mother's Day: A special day to look at the Fifth Commandment

It seems to me appropriate for Mother’s Day to take the Fifth Commandment, and make it fully theirs. I do want you to know that this is in no way meant to detract from the centrality of mom in the home. Neither am I endeavoring to bring the father in for a share of the tribute and honor that should go to mothers on this day. I turn to this commandment because in it is embodied the very basis and essential significance of Mother’s Day.

From the very beginning of the church, the church and the people of God have paid tribute to the high and noble estate of motherhood. While still in the Garden of Eden, a special recognition of mothers was made. Adam named his wife, and he called her “Eve” because as he said, “She is the mother of all living.”

Once again, immediately after their expulsion from the garden, mothers were brought to the forefront again, when God prophesized, “The seed of the woman shall bruise the serpent’s head.”
Someone has said, “When you tell the story of any great man, you must begin with his mother.”
As was the case of John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Church, as well as his brother, the great hymn writer, Charles. The love and influence of the mother is the central and supreme influence of the home, or it should be. An old Chinese proverb expresses this most clearly with, “When a child goes away from home, he carries his mother’s hand with him.”

It is doubly significant that the one who was chosen to be a great influence in the life of the Lord Jesus as He was growing up was the one who brought Him into this world as a human baby, His mother. She is the one who was with Him all the way from conception to the cross, and His resurrection. During His boyhood and into His youth, He was subject to her as well as to Joseph.

What greater tribute could be paid to the dignity and sublimity of motherhood than this?

In the Fifth Commandment: It is stated, “Honor thy father and thy mother,” I don’t believe that we would be at all in error to place the emphasis on, “honor thy mother,” because of the significance of this day, Mother’s Day. This Fifth Commandment stands as the first and fundamental statute in our duty to man. Here, I believe, we have laid down for us, the very wrap and woof of society in general, and of Christian society in specific. The home was the place God chose as the proper place where His Son was to be raised, free to be loved, to love, to interact with community, free from government control. He chose the nurturing, instruction and discipline of the home as the place where His Son should grow and develop into perfect manhood. The home is very important.

The tragedy of our day is, the home has become peripheral and not central in the life and training of our children and young people.

This commandment to; “Honor thy father and thy mother” is not an arbitrary command.
It is the most natural, reasonable necessity of society. If any man or woman has a right to our honor, it is our parents. Think of the love and care that they have given to us throughout our infant days and on! Think of the expense, time and effort they so generously gave.

This is especially true of mothers. In time of sickness or injury, she would drop everything to care for us, her children. Not only is it the parent’s right to receive honor, this is also best for the child.
The real purpose of the Fifth Commandment is not to safeguard the honor of parents; it is rather for the sake of the children. Children are happier and safer if they obey and honor their parents. Paul says in Ephesians 6, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord for this is right.
Honor thy father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise.”

Let’s love and honor our mothers. Start today and every day, remember, Let’s pay special tribute to our mothers.

A little R&R time as watermelon is in season is Southern Arizona. Yum!
Thursday night is open mike night at the clubhouse. We are starting to feel quite comfortable and enjoy this time.

As we get more into summer the numbers in the park are getting smaller and we’re using this time to get to know the park’s year round residents better. What a blessing it is!

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

A strong woman works out every day to keep her body in shape.
But a woman of strength kneels in prayer to keep her soul in shape.

A strong woman isn't afraid of anything.
But a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of her fear.

A strong woman won't let anyone get the best of her.
But a woman of strength gives the best of her to everyone.

A strong woman walks sure-footedly.
But a woman of strength knows God will catch her when she falls.

A strong woman wears the look of confidence on her face.
But a woman of strength wears grace.

A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey.
But a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong.
